The installation was inspired by the famous monumental painting »De Intocht van Christus Brussel« (1888) by the belgium painter James Ensor. Originally planned as a stage design for a play about the painter James Ensors, Kæppel restates the carnivalesque, folksy actors in a colorful procession, based on the special aesthetic of Ensor. Contemporary heroes are Batman and Funkymary. Detached from any perspective rule, they deploy layered in the space.
