Dahinten das Büro der Partei

Berlin 2009

The documentary „Freedom Without Walls“ tells the story of Berlin twenty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall. As part of the documentary the animation »Steh auf Berlin« is a personal reflection of the situation. Dogs play humans and east berlin is leveled by the communist hammer.

Berlin is the capital of niches. Its unfinished urban structure offers space for creativity, experiments and recommencements. Its pure size and its delay of economic development are reasons why Berlin provides consistently whole areas that can be newly discovered and used for performances. The basic idea of the opener is to show the city as vacuum, as open space for projections, as playground and living organism.
